Race equality: monitoring for change

Race equality: How well are you doing – and how can you do better?

This new course gives you the know-how you need to start bringing about real, positive change.

Commitment to race equality isn’t enough. If you are to bring about real change you need facts to go on. You must analyse your data, look at your benchmarks - and set realistic targets.

After all, if you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.

That’s why The Race Relations Amendment legislation calls for ethnic and diversity monitoring. But although almost everyone sees it as a good idea, it is not that easy - and poses many challenges.

But as you know, many staff and clients don’t understand why this is so important. They don’t see that it is vital to support the delivery of race equality and diversity policies and bring about positive change.

Nor do they always appreciate how vital data collection is for benchmarking and target setting. Only with such information can we prove we are meeting standards of service delivery. And only by collecting and using it intelligently can we pass inspections and audits and gain the funding we need.

Unfortunately many people are still offended by ethnic monitoring questions or not sure which box to tick. And you can’t rely on data if a high percentage of forms aren’t returned.

Even when the data is collected there are still many challenges. There can be fears or suspicions about how the data will be used, and staff who are essential to the task often don’t feel confident in interpreting it.

This entirely new workshop is led by Stella Dadzie, one of the UK’s leading race equality consultants. Stella gives participants a rare opportunity to explore the challenges of ethnic diversity monitoring and data collection in a safe but challenging forum.

Your trainer

Stella DadzieStella Dadzie has over twenty years' experience in this area and a wealth of knowledge developed from conducting equalities workshops all over the UK and internationally in frontline contexts including Germany and South Africa. Many of these have been with some of the most challenging and unreceptive participants.

Her experience and passion for the topic usually wins what I can only call rave reviews from people like yourself.
