How to use evaluation to help communities to help themselves
How can communities set their own goals and priorities, find solutions to their problems and achieve the results they want? Find out at this important workshop
Empowerment evaluation is probably the most powerful tool available for communities who are seeking improvement and control over their lives. It recognises people’s capacity to find solutions to their own problems.
Initiated in the USA and now used all over the world, empowerment evaluation has the unambiguous goal of helping people to help themselves. It uses self evaluation and reflection so that communities conduct their own evaluations on their own terms.
Delegates go away knowing:
- How to identify the results a community would like to see from a project
- How to take stock and prioritise community issues and concerns
- How to chart a course for the future by getting a group to state their goals and aspirations
- How to use technology to collect data and document achievements
- How to monitor community efforts
- How to create a learning organisation
- How to ensure that evaluation is a part of the planning and management of community programmes
